At least five people were injured in a huge explosion at a checkpoint in Quetta in Pakistan's Balochistan Province, local media reported Sunday.

The explosion reportedly happened near the Quetta Police Lines area and police have rushed to the spot and cordoned it off.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement released on Sunday, saying that security officials were targeted in the blast.

Sunday's incident came a week after an explosion in a mosque next to the Police Lines in Peshawar, that claimed at least 100 lives. The TTP also said it was behind the attack.
