A magnitude-7.7 earthquake jolted central Türkiye on Monday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The China Earthquake Networks Center and the U.S. Geological Survey recorded the magnitude at 7.8, while the local Disaster and Emergency Management Authority reported it was a magnitude-7.4 earthquake. Videos posted on social media showed massive damage and collapsed buildings in the region.
