With the Spring Festival holiday coming to an end, China's highways, railways and airports witnessed a surge in travelers. National railways reported over 100 million passenger trips during the week after Spring Festival, increasing by 48.7 percent year on year, with over 10 million riders daily for seven consecutive days from January 26 to February 1. During the seven-day holiday, national civil aviation saw a total of nine million passengers, up by 79.8 percent from the previous year. More than 300 million trips were taken across China during what's known as Golden Week alone, when workers take annual leave, reaching almost 90 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
