The 43rd fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy on Sunday took over an escort mission from the 42nd naval fleet in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somalia. The 43rd Chinese naval escort task force, which consists of guided-missile destroyer Nanning, guided-missile frigate Sanya and comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu, as well as two ship-borne helicopters and more than 700 troops, set sail from Zhanjiang City of south China's Guangdong Province on January 10. It is the first time for ship Nanning to perform an escort mission.
