More than 4,000 people have been killed after two massive earthquakes of magnitude-7.8 and 7.7 rocked Türkiye and Syria on February 6. The two powerful earthquakes struck the same region on the same day. Professor Yang Hongfeng from the Earth System Science Programme in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, says this is a rare occurrence in inland region.
