The Chinese embassy in Türkiye said no casualties have been reported among Chinese citizens after devastating earthquakes struck Türkiye's southern provinces and neighboring Syria on February 6.
The death toll from the powerful earthquakes has risen to 7,108, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said on February 8.
Chinese ambassador to Türkiye Liu Shaobin said that following the earthquakes, the Chinese embassy immediately issued a consular alert and activated the emergency response mechanism to find out if any Chinese nationals have been affected. The embassy has also kept in close contact with the local government to provide assistance to overseas Chinese affected by the earthquakes, according to the ambassador.
