An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck southern Türkiye in the early hours of February 6, followed by a 7.8 aftershock at 1:24 p.m. Cities in southern Türkiye and northern Syria have been hit hard.

On February 8, CGTN Stringer traveled to Hatay province near the worst-hit areas and recorded the scene of a boy being saved from the rubble. Local residents and rescue workers applauded and cheered as the boy was rescued.
