An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted southern Türkiye in the early hours of February 6, followed by another 7.8-magnitude quake at 1:24 p.m., causing heavy casualties in the country and neighboring country Syria.

On February 8, CGTN Stringer drove to the hard-hit Hatay province to record the latest situation there and interviewed residents, many people reported relatives being trapped under the rubble and waiting for help.
