A UN convoy carrying humanitarian aid entered Syria on Thursday at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Türkiye in the first such delivery since the quakes, a border crossing official told Reuters.
The United Nations earlier said it had received assurances that relief aid would reach earthquake-devastated areas of northwestern Syria through the sole authorized crossing from Türkiye on Thursday and has demanded that the aid not be "politicized."
"We were assured today that we would be able to get through the first assistance today" through the Bab al-Hawa crossing, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, told reporters in Geneva on Thursday.
