Temperatures have fallen to -2 degrees Celsius in Aleppo in northern Syria.
Thousands of structures are uninhabitable or in total ruins, leaving countless residents homeless, forcing them to seek shelter in more than 100 temporary encampments provided by the government. Many local residents say the Western sanctions have made the terrible situation even worse.
