Two major earthquakes flattened buildings of all kinds and killed thousands of people across southern Türkiye and northern Syria. The death toll is likely to rise as rescuers continue to search for survivors under the rubble.

On February 10, CGTN Stringer Neyran Elden visited Pazarcik in Turkish Kahramanmaras province, the epicenter of the first major earthquake. Due to the enormous scale of the disaster and traffic blockage, many people there can still not get tents, heaters, food, and other living necessities six days after the earthquake. As the temperature reached -10 degrees Celsius at night, residents in Pazarcik have to sleep in their cars and burn wood gathered from the rubble to keep warm.
