Michigan police said on Tuesday that they have identified the Michigan State University (MSU) shooter as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae, who was found dead after killing three people and injuring five others.

No motive has been determined yet, police told reporters.

Five injured people remain in critical condition, a hospital official said.

Shots were fired on the MSU campus in East Lansing on Monday. The police later said the suspect had been located off campus, where he was found dead from "a self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The police added that there is no longer a threat to campus, and the shelter-in-place order has been lifted. The incident is being investigated with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
