South Africa has been experiencing severe electricity shortages, with more than 200 days of load shedding recorded last year. It has been getting worse, with some days going as many as eight hours without power. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster on the evening of February 9 to address the country's electricity crisis.
