Ohioans demand answers after toxic chemical train derailment
01:46

Residents in Ohio's East Palestine community are still demanding answers regarding their health and safety concerns two weeks after the derailment of a toxic chemical train. Community members gathered at a local high school auditorium to demand answers from the city government and Norfolk Southern Corporation, the Atlanta-based operator of the derailed train. The rail firm pulled out of the meeting due to concerns about the safety of its employees. Families with children are especially concerned with the safety of the local water and air. A Norfolk Southern freight train carrying hazardous materials, including vinyl chloride, derailed in East Palestine on the state's border with Pennsylvania on the night of February 3. Vinyl chloride exposure has been associated with an increasing risk of a rare form of liver cancer, as well as primary liver cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma and leukemia.
