As many as 53 people were killed on Friday when attacked by the Islamic State (IS) group in the desert region in eastern Syria, the Syrian national TV said.

The IS attacked and killed the people near the city of Al-Sukhnah in the eastern countryside of Homs province when the victims, including 46 civilians and seven soldiers, were collecting truffles, according to the report.
