In an exclusive interview with CGTN's Tian Wei, Adele Khodr, UNICEF regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, said that the massive earthquake in war-torn Syria is compounding the suffering of children there. For nearly 12 years, they've been dealing with war, poverty and homeless desperation. For the United Nations, the priority is to ensure that children and families have access to safe drinking water, nutrition packages and sanitation services, which are critical to preventing disease early in the crisis. She called on all countries to help children with humanitarian aid. "The essential thing is to be able to reach every child. And it doesn't matter how."
