China's firm stance on the use of nuclear weapons was applauded at a panel discussion on the nuclear issue at the Munich Security Conference last Friday as the 2023 Munich Security Report pointed out that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, secondary high inflation, energy crisis and nuclear security issues have become new global security concerns.

The discussion, themed "Fallout? Challenges for Transatlantic Defense and the Nuclear Order", brought scholars and experts from around the world to share ideas on the world where the international arms control system has faced severe challenges over the past decade. Yao Yunzhu, senior adviser of China Association of Military Sciences and Izumi Nakamitsu, the UN Undersecretary-General for Disarmament Affairs shared their views at the conference in the video.
