Chinese engineers have started building a roughly 5-kilometer-long subsea tunnel across the two banks, as part of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, a sea-crossing transit corridor between the cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan, which will be completely immersed underwater.
