The Dragon's Head-raising Day, or Longtaitou in Chinese, falls on the 2nd day of the second month on the Chinese lunar calendar. As legend has it, the dragon was regarded as the deity in charge of rain, an important factor in agriculture. The day marks the beginning of spring plowing, and is an important ritual to pray for a good harvest. In Santai County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, people celebrate the day in various ways and bring agricultural goods to trade.
