Dr Wu Chun, managing partner of BCG Greater China, says the Chinese middle class is expected to increase by 73 million by 2030, based on a recent study with Chinese consumers from different tiers of cities in China. BCG has also concluded that trading up for higher quality, better brands and individualism are major reasons for consumers to spend more.
