China is willing to work with Russia to maintain strategic focus, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen strategic coordination, expand practical cooperation and safeguard the legitimate interests of the two countries and play a constructive role in promoting world peace and development, Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said on Wednesday.
Wang made the remarks during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
The current international situation is complicated and severe, but China-Russia relations have withstood the test of the international situation and are mature, tenacious and stable, said Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
He said the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination never targets a third party, nor does it allow for interference or coercion by a third party.
Noting that China-Russia relations share a solid political, economic and cultural foundation, Wang said the two countries' support of world multi-polarization and democracy in international relations is in line with the trend of the times.

For his part, Putin said China-Russia relations are moving toward the set goals.
He said both sides have achieved fruitful results from cooperation in various fields and coordination in multilateral organizations, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.
They have strengthened solidarity and cooperation in international affairs, which is of great importance in promoting democracy in international relations, as well as global balance and stability, he added.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on the Ukraine issue.
Wang expressed his appreciation for the Russian side's reaffirmation of its willingness to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiation.
He said China will, as always, uphold an objective and impartial position and play a constructive role in finding a political solution to the crisis.
