American media frequently hyped a supposed link between these unidentified high-altitude objects and China. NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden even questioned the White House decision to expend $400,000 missiles on $12 balloons. The overreaction not only caused an international sensation, but also revealed the ridiculousness of America's hyper-aggressive but politically-correct policies toward China.
