Expert: Countries need to facilitate prompt notification and coordination to settle issue on airspace safety
01:09

A diplomatic dispute has arisen between China and the U.S. after a Chinese unmanned airship was shot down over the Atlantic Ocean. CGTN talks with Su Jinyuan, a Professor at the Wuhan University Institute of International Law, to discuss this issue from an international perspective. According to Su, the complete and exclusive sovereignty of countries over their national airspace is a key principle of international law. But in this case, as the incident occurred due to force majeure, it is possible to avoid dispute if the U.S. is willing to solve the problem in good faith and takes more mitigating measures.
