Olivier Mendoo, a PhD student at Peking University's School of International Relations, who is from Cameroon, along with his Zimbabwean friend Tungamirai Eric Mupona, embarks on a tour of several villages in Zhejiang Province. The aim of their visit is to learn from China's experience in rural revitalization and grassroots governance, to use it as a reference for rural economic development in Africa.
Among the questions they seek to answer are: "How did a village use jiaobai, or Manchurian wild rice, to escape poverty?" and "What models of rural revitalization in China can Africa learn from?" The video follows these two young Africans as they discover how cultivating jiaobai has transformed lives.
