Huashan Mountain God in an Epiphany is a line drawing with ink color. It was created by Li Gonglin, a scholar artist of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). He only used one single color to vividly depict hundreds of people, animals and deities through the line work alone. That's what CG artists are trying to chase in their contemporary efforts, says Te Hu, technical director of Pixar Animation Studio. He tells us what he has learned from the Song Dynasty paintings.
