China on Monday expressed strong opposition to the U.S. aircraft's flying through the Taiwan Straits.
The U.S. P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft flew over the Taiwan Straits, and it was hyped up publicly, said Army Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command.
Troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command have kept monitoring the patrol aircraft and maintained vigilance throughout the whole course, and every movement was under control, Shi said.
The theater command will maintain high alert to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, he added.
