The world's largest wide flat shallow draft semi-submersible barge, under construction in south China's Guangdong Province, has seen its first tower successfully installed. The installation of all the towers is expected to be finished by the end of March, and the barge will be ready for hand-over and overall operation before July. The 45,000-deadweight tonne (dwt) semi-submersible barge has a length of 164 meters and a width of 65 meters. Upon completion, it will be mainly used as a marine transportation platform and could be used for cargo shipping and container loading. It can also serve large-scale marine facilities and handle their transportation and installation, operating in both deep and shallow waters.
