China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday signed a framework agreement for strategic cooperation with the Xiling Seal Art Society at a ceremony marking the launch of a joint project to promote the traditional culture and aesthetics.
The ceremony was attended by CMG President Shen Haixiong, CMG Vice President Xing Bo and Secretary of Hangzhou municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Jie, among others.
The Xiling Seal Art Society is a Hangzhou-based academic organization devoted to the art of seal carving.
The traditional Chinese culture is the root and soul of the Chinese nation, and serves as the foundation that allows the nation to stand firm in the face of global turbulences, Xing said, adding that generations of artists have "passed on the quintessence of the country for thousands of years."
China Media Group and the Xiling Seal Art Society aim to jointly explore new ways to carry forward seal carving and new forms to transform the traditional culture, Xing added.
Liu said the Xiling Seal Art Society enjoys a great reputation in the world. For the 120 years since it was founded, the organization has upheld its founding principles and become an arts organization with the longest history, the highest achievement and the farthest reach.
Cooperation between CMG and the arts group is the materialization of the efforts to carry forward the Chinese traditional culture, Liu said.
