Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Wednesday called on Party schools to stay true to their founding mission of fostering talent for and contributing wisdom to the Party.

Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while addressing a meeting marking the 90th anniversary of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and the opening ceremony of its 2023 spring semester.

He stressed that Party schools at all levels should adhere to the leadership of the Party and serve the needs of the country. He said the Party school system has to uphold socialism with Chinese characteristics and strengthen the Party's theoretical education, Party spirit education, and ideological and moral education.

'Key role in cadre education'

Noting that Party schools play a key role in cadre education and training, he stressed that they must do a good job in nurturing a contingent of competent key officials for governance, preach the truth of Marxism, and study how to advance the country's reform, development and stability.

In terms of theoretical training, Xi urged Party schools to further strengthen Marxist theory education, concentrating on the education of the latest achievements of the modernization of Marxism in China to unify their thought, will and action.

He said Party schools at all levels should take the education of Party character as the main content, carrying out in-depth teaching of the Party's ideal and belief, conduct and integrity, and the Party's constitution, rules and regulations to guide leading cadres to establish a correct view of power, performance and career.

Nothing that leading cadres must comprehensively enhance their skills in all aspects to fulfill the duties and missions entrusted to the Party and the people in the new era, Xi said Party schools at all levels should organize and carry out practical and effective professional training to improve leading cadres' capabilities, such as the advancement of high-quality development, service to the masses, risk prevention and solution, so that they are competent to perform the leadership work.

Contributing wisdom

He stressed that Party schools assume an important responsibility to offer advice to the Party. Delivering high-quality achievements in terms of the Party's innovative theory study and explanation and providing suggestions to the Party and the government also embody their unique value.

Xi concluded by emphasizing that adhering to the Party's overall leadership is the fundamental experience of the Party to run Party schools, which also guarantees the healthy development of the schools.

He called for Party committees and governments at all levels to take practical action to support the work of Party schools.
