Expert: Japan's military budget increase is to show its support for U.S.

Japan's lower house of parliament has approved a $836 billion budget for the next fiscal year, including nearly $50 billion on military spending. Controversial defense spending is factored in despite the country's grim fiscal health. Takesato Watanabe, Professor of Media & Political Science at Doshisha University, says that part of the reasons that Japan raised its military budget is to show its support to the U.S.
