3D printing is not a new concept in manufacturing. But in medicine, 3D bioprinting is a nascent but fast-growing technology. It has the potential to address the global shortage of organ donors and offer new solutions to complex diseases and injuries. National People's Congress Deputy Yuan Yuyu wants to make such live-saving technologies more accessible. He is rallying support for R&D as well as talent cultivation across the biomedicine supply chain. Yuan was able to voice his suggestions directly to President Xi Jinping during the Two Sessions five years ago. As more Chinese high-tech startups set their sights on global markets, Yuan has another idea.
