Fresh progress has been made in work related to China's Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region over the past five years, according to a government work report submitted to the national legislature for deliberation on Sunday.
The central government has effectively exercised full jurisdiction over Hong Kong in accordance with the Constitution and the Basic Law, the report said.
The Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the HKSAR has been formulated and put into effect, and the principle that Hong Kong and Macao should be administered by patriots has been applied, the report noted.
