National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Vice Chairman Zhao Chenxin told a press conference on Monday that China's GDP growth target of "around 5%" for 2023, as set out in the government work report, is conducive to improving the quality and efficiency of economic development and consistent with its prevailing trend.

Zhao added that China will prioritize stability while pursuing progress.
