A total of 728 Afghan prisoners held in Iran have been handed over to the Afghan government in Islam Qala port on Monday, Mawlavi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, the charge d'affaires of Afghanistan in Iran, said in a video message, reported local media outlet Ariana News.
Herat prison manager Mohammad Nabi Khalil said these prisoners were held in Iran for various crimes, including drug trafficking. According to the agreement, they will serve the rest of their time in Afghan prisons.
