The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 135-129 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, ending their five-game losing streak.

It is also the first win the team has secured since they made Russell Westbrook their starting point guard. The 34-year-old veteran shot 4-for-9 from the field in Sunday's game to get nine points, five rebounds, six assists and four turnovers for the Clippers.

It is unfair to make Westbrook the scapegoat for the Clippers' recent underperformance. In fact, neither did he have much to do with the team's first win in six games on Sunday night because that is how limited his influence is on the court.

The Grizzlies missed three starters, Steve Adams from injury, plus Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant from being suspended. The team had to transfer Tyus Jones, David Roddy and Xavier Tillman from the bench unit to the starting lineup and made them shoulder bigger roles.

Both Jones and Tillman caused the Clippers a lot of trouble. Jones drained five triples, most of which were in transition, and made the opponents' defenders run their legs off via screen plays because he was able to both make floaters and set up easy buckets for teammates. Tillman doesn't shoot 3-pointers, which is why the Clippers often had their center guard him. However, big men often left Tillman too much room for him to speed up and charge the rim.

In the third quarter, Jones made all of his seven field goals (FGs) to get 20 points and five assists, leading the Grizzlies to score 51 points in this period alone. They became the fifth team that got 50 or more points in one quarter this season. Desmond Bane made three triples to contribute 11 points for the Grizzlies, which led by as many as 16 points (109-93) in this period.

The double-digit deficit aside, the Clippers were once on the edge of falling apart because they were completely unfocused on both ends of the game for a long time. The Grizzlies' 26 fast break points came from not only the Clippers' 17 turnovers, but also their failures of containing 3-point shooters immediately.

Coach Tyronn Lue made the decisive move in the fourth quarter of sending a centerless squad to the court. This way, they had at least four players to space the floor and switched everything on the defensive end. From 9:29 to 3:21, the team had a 20-3 run to come back. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George scored 15 and 10 points respectively for the Clippers in the fourth quarter.

Phoenix Suns 130-126 Dallas Mavericks

Kevin Durant met Kyrie Irving on the court again at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, though this time they are no longer teammates. Irving stood next to Luka Doncic and the two combined to score 64 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists for the Mavericks. Durant was with his new teammates at the Suns. He and Devin Booker combined to drop 73 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists.

The score was tied at 126 when there were 32.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Durant dribbled to the front court and faced Tim Hardaway Jr. at the top of the key. Irving came to double-team Durant, who passed it to Ish Wainright and then had it back. This time, Durant didn't wait to be trapped there. Instead, he drove in, pulled up, and shot a jumper in the left of the paint. Hardaway Jr. followed him closely but it was simply too hard for him to deflect the shooting of someone who is at least 15 centimeters taller. The ball fell into the net for the Suns to lead 128-126.

In the following possession, Doncic forced his way into the Suns' paint, but missed a floater he could have made. Durant had the rebound and, as a result, forced Doncic to foul him. Having made both free throws, Durant sealed the third straight win for the Suns.

Golden State Warriors 105-113 Los Angeles Lakers

Antony Davis dominated the Warriors at Crypto.com Arena for the Lakers on Sunday as he dropped 39 points, eight rebounds and six assists. He had 15 points in the first quarter to give the opponents a head-on blow and led the purple and gold to a 33-18 run. Then Davis contributed 12 points in the fourth quarter, shutting down the Warriors' final rally.

Stephen Curry came back for the Warriors from the leg injury that cost him the previous 11 games. He shot 5-for-13 behind the arc and missed four shots within the 3-point line to get 27 points and six assists. Jordan Poole came off the bench after Curry's return, but he isn't used to playing in the backup unit. Having shot 10 of his 11 field goals (FGs) at the 3-point line, Poole only made three of them.

New York Knicks 131-129 Boston Celtics

The Knicks beat the Celtics for the second time in a week. On Sunday night, they went through two overtimes (OTs) to upset the Eastern Conference No. 2 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Immanuel Quickley scored 18 of his 38 points in the second half and seven during the second OT for the Knicks to enjoy a quick five-point lead (128-123) after two and a half minutes.

Jayson Tatum dropped game-high 40 points for the Celtics, but it also took him 30 FG attempts, the most on the court, to do so. 17 of his shots were from downtown and he made six of them. The other 13 shots of his all happened in the paint and he made six of them as well. He also earned 12 free throws and drained 10 of them. So, it's unfair to call him "soft," but Tatum could use more offensive options for his attack to be not so predictable.
