Apart from the session of the National People's Congress, the country's political advisors are also gathering in Beijing to discuss future development plans. Our reporter You Yang sat down with Pansy Ho Chiu-king, one of the CPPCC members from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to ask what her expectations are for the future development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

YOU YANG Beijing "You have mentioned several times that Hong Kong young people should have stronger cultural self-confidence. What do you mean by that? You've spoken with young people in Hong Kong, telling them that they should always be recognized as Chinese, and that patriotism is a notion that they should always remember. Why is this important?"

PANSY HO CHIU-KING, CPPCC Member "Well, I am one of the very good examples. I was born and brought up in Hong Kong. I have lived and worked in both Hong Kong and Macao. I had been educated abroad, but then I returned to Hong Kong and Macao and I love having that ability and I made choices in my own personal opinion, which I called it the freedom of choices. I have choices, but I make a deliberate choice to return to my own country and to serve my own country. International does not mean that we become just part of them. In fact, international means we want other people to respect us and to actually embrace us. Maybe the young people have not had sufficient reach out also into our own country. So in that respect, I think it is only fair that we should give the true facts and to present for them, so that they can make their own decisions. What we do now, for instance, and I supervise over a few organizations, I think we need to, in a way, revise a little bit how we would offer some of the educational programs to the young people."

YOU YANG Beijing "It's been four years since China's government presented the 'Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area'. You've said you would like to see more investigation projects launched in the Greater Bay Area. What plans or ideas do you have to contribute to the development of the area?"

PANSY HO CHIU-KING, CPPCC Member "That is really the key topic of course you know for anybody who's in business within the Greater Bay Area. We're very blessed again. We have a head start. One of my companies has already started to provide passenger fast ferries bringing people from Hong Kong to Macao, and vice versa. Now we are advancing and elevating this. So we are going to hopefully be able to start our plan – to create a cross territories transportation network, a sea, to air to land, this sort of transportation network. We would like to provide this kind of infrastructural services to the people within the Greater Bay Area in future."
