"The grassroots are the starting point of our occupation," said Ma Huaide, member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of China University of Political Science, on Tuesday.

Ma made the remarks when talking about how to find a suitable job on the sidelines of the ongoing Two Sessions.

A total of 11.58 million college students are expected to graduate this year, about 820,000 more than last year, according to Ma.

China attaches great importance to graduates' employment. Relevant departments have issued a series of support policies and built various employment platforms, all sectors of society have released job vacancies, and universities have done everything possible to help college students find jobs.

"I'd rather say I'm from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), instead of from Macao or Hong Kong," said Pansy Ho Chiu-king, member of the CPPCC National Committee from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

In the GBA, which covers nine cities in south China's Guangdong Province and two special administrative regions, people drink from the same river, enjoy the same culture and all have the moral character to bear hardships and work hard, she said.

With a huge market, abundant human resources and boundless development potential, the GBA will become a "grand stage" for Hong Kong's development, she said.

Hong Kong should act as a global "super connector" in the GBA, seize the development opportunities and leverage its strengths for national development, according to Ho.
