Between 2011 and 2021, the number of Chinese university graduates in preschool education increased six-fold, while that of kindergartens rose by more than 70 percent. Approximately 80 percent of the new kindergartens are concentrated in central and western China, and nearly 90 percent of the kindergarten students enjoy "public-benefit" preschool education.
Liang Shuang, from Henan Province, has two children. This year, her eldest daughter went to a "public-benefit" kindergarten in her community. Liang told CGTN stringer that after the private kindergartens set fees according to government guidelines, ordinary people's children could receive a better education at a lower cost.
