"Court Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk" is said to be a copy created by Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty or the artist in his imperial academy. It is an image of three different processes in making silk. Who are these women in the painting? Why do they make silk? Dr Nancy Berliner of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, shares her findings.

The inaugural season of the CGTN Art Series, "The Song, Painted," is a virtual exhibition of the Song Dynasty masterpieces that are currently housed in museums worldwide.

CGTN presents to the world a sumptuous journey of culture – zooming in on the Song Dynasty art and the ethos reflected in the paintings and delving into a millennial dream.
