Living in a county that was lifted out of poverty in recent years and working as the leader of a pig farm in rural Yunnan Province in southwest China, Li Zhijuan has been elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress for the first time this year.
In this interview, she discusses the remarkable changes that the poverty alleviation project had already brought to her hometown, as well as the underlying issues that could be resolved in order to continue the development of rural areas. After wide field research and soliciting opinions from farmers, she now presents all advice to the ongoing 14th National People's Congress, hoping to put them into policy.
