Large number of spotted seals seen sunbathing on reefs in Shandong
00:52

A large number of endangered spotted seals were seen sunbathing on reefs in sea waters off Yantai, a coastal city in east China's Shandong Province. Dubbed "pandas of the sea", spotted seals are the only pinniped marine mammal to breed in Chinese waters and are placed under China's class one national protection. Every March, the seals migrate from Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea in northeast China to the Long Island in Yantai so that they can enjoy sufficient food, such as small fish, shrimps and algae. It is also a suitable environment for them to rest before swimming to the Western Pacific in late May.
