China launched a pair of satellites from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern China's Shanxi Province on Friday.

The twin satellites, dubbed Tianhui-6 A and Tianhui-6 B, were launched at 6:41 a.m. Beijing Time atop a Long March-4C carrier rocket, and have successfully entered the preset orbit.

They will be mainly used for geographic mapping, land resource surveys, scientific experiments and other tasks.

Friday's launch was the 465th mission for the Long March series of carrier rockets.
