China's private enterprises will enjoy a better business environment and broader space for development, said Premier Li Qiang as he met the press after the closing of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress on Monday.

The government will continue to foster a market-based and law-based business environment under international standards, Li said.

Premier Li emphasized that the country's commitment to unswervingly consolidating and developing the public sector and at the same time unswervingly encouraging, supporting and guiding the development of the non-public sector of the economy is a long-term policy that has not changed in the past and will not change in the future.

He reiterated that China will create a level playing field for private enterprise and help entrepreneurs grow and thrive, while noting that government officials at all levels must sincerely care for and support private enterprises.

China has a huge market, with new sectors that are "a racing track that can be tapped," all of this offers great opportunities for private entrepreneurs, Li said.

"I am confident that in the new era and on the new journey, our private entrepreneurs will continue to write their exciting entrepreneurial journey," he added.
