37 years ago, Ling Jiafan moved from an affluent town to Nantong Village in Qionghai City in South China's Hainan Province to fight a malaria epidemic. The 65-year-old rural doctor is still fighting. Dr. Ling knows every single one of the 2,000 ethnic Miao villagers who live here and call him the "protector of health".
