China, Indonesia hail high-level mutual trust between heads of state

Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi on Tuesday hailed the high-level mutual trust between China and Indonesia in a phone conversation with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Wang thanked Indonesian President Joko Widodo for congratulating Xi Jinping on his election as president of the People's Republic of China (PRC). This showed the high-level mutual trust between the two heads of state and the high-level relationship between the two countries, Wang said.

China under the new leadership will adhere to the people-centered development concept and promote high-quality development, Wang, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, told Pandjaitan, speaking highly of the future cooperation between the two countries.

During the conversation, Pandjaitan said Indonesia is willing to work with China in jointly constructing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway.

He also spoke highly of China's role in restoring Saudi-Iran diplomatic ties. It is an example of resolving conflicts and achieving peace through negotiations, Pandjaitan said.

For Wang's part, he said the Saudi-Iran talks in Beijing mark successful practices of the Global Security Initiative and a successful example of developing countries resolving regional hot spot issues through their own efforts. He also reiterated China's stance of resolving global conflicts through peaceful negotiations.
