Austrian scholar: U.S. is likely to be involved in Nord Stream blasts
01:53

Hannes Fellner, associate professor from University of Vienna, said the Nord Stream pipeline could not have been blasted without state-level support, while German media have suggested that the explosion may have been carried out by a pro-Ukrainian group. Fellner believes Russia could not break the pipeline it invested billions of dollars to build. He said that American journalist Seymour Hersh's report is persuasive in that it contains extensive details. Fellner argues that the current failure in moving the investigation forward might suggest that someone is trying to hide the truth. There should be an independent inquiry by the UN to avoid interference, he added.
