China-Europe freight trains boost Yiwu exports, promote trade in markets along routes
01:29

Products sent out from China's Yiwu City, known as the "World's Supermarket", are reaching customers in more than 160 cities of over 50 countries across Eurasia thanks to the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe (YXE) train service under the China-Europe freight trains. Operated within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the international freight service is facilitating trade and bridging the gap and divide between different markets along the route. The first line of YXE to reach a European country is the Yiwu-Madrid line, officially launched in November 2014 and spanning eight countries with a total length of more than 13,000 kilometers. To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain, the two countries dispatched a pair of commemorative trains, loaded with distinctive goods for cross-boundary circulation. Exiting via Alashankou Port in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the YXE trains have point-to-point direct international routes in 18 directions, reaching 101 overseas stations.
