Finnish President Sauli Niinisto will visit Türkiye on March 16-17 and meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss NATO membership and other issues, the former's office said on Wednesday.
Niinisto said on Wednesday that he expects Erdogan to confirm that Türkiye is backing Finland's NATO membership when the two meet in Ankara later this week, the president said in an email to Reuters.
On Finland's NATO bid, Erdogan on Wednesday said Türkiye will "do its part" after upcoming talks with his Finnish counterpart Niinisto, Anadolu Agency reported.
"Whatever the process is, we will run that process. We will do our part. We will keep our promise," Erdogan was quoted as saying.
