Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old black man, was pulled from his car during a traffic stop and then brutally beaten on January 7. He died in the hospital three days after the violent arrest on suspicion of reckless driving.

On February 3, a white Louisiana police officer was arrested for fatally shooting an unarmed Black man who was trying to flee police responding to a domestic disturbance call.

On March 1, five officers repeatedly fired into all sides of a car in a fatal shooting after yelling "gun" several times after 25-year-old Chase Allan in Utah, refused to give officers his driver's license.
