China, under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, has established a better image in the world and is leading the world in a good direction, Pakistani President Arif Alvi said on Wednesday.

Alvi made the remarks during an interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Pakistan's Islamabad, adding that a stable political situation and capable leaders are very important in today's era.

Extending congratulations to Xi on his election as president of the People's Republic of China, Alvi said this is the Chinese people's high recognition of President Xi's outstanding ability in governing the country.

'I'm impressed by China's efforts on promoting to build a community with a shared future for mankind'

The concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, proposed by President Xi, is extremely important, Alvi said, adding that countries around the world can only address the challenges they face, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and poverty, by working together.

"The efforts made by China on promoting to build a community with a shared future for mankind has impressed me deeply," he told CMG.

China has set an example for the world in terms of poverty alleviation and combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pakistani president said.

Alvi said Pakistan learned a lot from the anti-pandemic experience of China during that period, mastered the method of controlling its spread in a short period of time, and has become one of the countries with the most outstanding achievements in the fight against the pandemic in the region.

When talking about how countries with different systems and cultural backgrounds should join hands to build a community with a shared future, Alvi said humanity needs to have a common goal, which is peace and prosperity.

To achieve this goal, wars should be ended and conflicts should be settled, he said, adding that the world is the shared home of mankind and should not belong to a certain country.

The Pakistani president stressed the need to build peaceful groups to promote global peace and prosperity.

'Pakistani people highly satisfied with BRI construction results'

In 2015, President Xi proposed to jointly build a China-Pakistan community with a shared future during his visit to Pakistan, Alvi told CMG, hailing the positive progress made by the two countries in the cooperation on the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The two countries also continue the advancement in key areas including the Gwadar Port, energy, transportation infrastructure and industrial cooperation, paving the way for future development, he added.

As an interconnected corridor, the CPEC not only facilitates trade within the region, but also brings benefits to many countries in Central Asia, Alvi added.

Noting that 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the BRI, Alvi said he is glad to see the Pakistani people are highly satisfied with the results of the BRI construction.

The BRI is in full swing not only in Pakistan, but also in the Middle East, Africa and around the world, he said, adding that it is the concrete practice of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, which will contribute to the elimination of differences and the promotion of cooperation among countries around the world.
